From the time I was a small child, when a nurse named Nancy at the local community hospital cared compassionately for me when I underwent surgeries, all I wanted to be was a nurse. Nurse Nancy inspired me to fall in love with the thought of wearing a white cap and comforting others. In high school, I found the sciences, especially biology and physiology fascinating, and I excelled at these classes, along with creative writing. I even won the Science Fair one year with an experiment in root propagation of philodendrons under multiple physical conditions.
My years after graduating from high school found me like many other young people, working to survive and paying rent. I didn’t always have health insurance back then in many years of working with SED kids, then in marketing and accounting.
I found myself in a pattern of being “re-engineered” out of my positions several times. I decided to go to school to become a registered nurse after being laid off from a company that left California for Memphis, TN. I figured if I was going to be laid off, I should at least enjoy it while I had it. My then husband supported me in my lifelong dream of becoming a nurse, and I’m forever grateful to him for this gift.
I started my nursing career in 1996 as a CNA working for registries in Sonoma County, CA while I attended nursing school at Santa Rosa Junior College. My dream of becoming a registered nurse came true in 1998 when I graduated from that then #1 rated school in California with my Associates Degree in Nursing.
I’ve never been laid off since I became an RN, and am grateful for this profession that has fed my soul every day of my professional life.
I had the distinct honor of graduating Summa cum laude from Purdue Global University in 2018 with my Masters of Science in Nursing, concurrently achieving my certificate as a Nurse Practitioner. A dream come true!
A few months after graduating and passing my boards, I had the opportunity to interview for a position here in Anacortes. We made the leap from the high desert, purchasing a home here in town without ever even seeing it, and relocated with my husband and furry family from Nevada late that year. I have proudly served this community as an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified by the ANCC ever since.
My passion is partnering with people to create patient centered plans of care to promote their health and wellness. My superpower is my ability to listen to my patients, and to think outside the box to find a solution to my patient’s concerns. My background in medical oncology, critical care, palliative medicine and hospice over my 2+ decades of nursing practice lead me to be an extremely autonomous nurse, and I was strongly encouraged by my mentors to consider taking the next step to pursue my Nurse Practitioner education. I’m very grateful to Dr. Kelle Brogan and Dr. Reed Dopf for their faith in my abilities, and for teaching me so much of what has made me the provider I am today.
In my spare time love hiking, bicycling, boating, crabbing, and eating all the the glorious seafood available in the PNW. There’s nothing more thrilling than scraping mussels off of the bottom of a buoy and steaming them up for lunch, right out of the sea! What a privilege it is to live in this beautiful place!
I look forward to helping you experience how healthcare can actually work for and with you, for your health and wellness. My team and I will offer you a truly patient centered partnership, all in the privacy of your own home or office. Consider us your doctors office without walls!
How I help you today?

I’d like to introduce myself and share a little bit about my personal life, work experience, and education.
I was raised in Fallon, NV in a family situation that drove me to become independent early in life. After high school, I moved with my sister to Oak Harbor, Washington, where I worked as a waitress and bartender. I met my soon-to-be husband Brian shortly thereafter.
After Brian’s separation from the Navy in 1992, we moved to Oklahoma for a couple of adventurous years, and it was there I first started working in the medical arena as a Certified Nursing Aid (CNA). It really opened my eyes to the need for better elder healthcare.
After moving back to our beloved Pacific Northwest in 1994, I went back to waitressing and bartending; something I’ve always enjoyed. After a few years of that and with a push from Brian, I went back to school to earn my associate’s degree in nursing in 2002.
I spent the formative years of my career working in a hospital medical/surgical unit. This experience laid a solid foundation of medical knowledge and a desire to be the best possible nurse I could. During that time I also working in locked mental health units. I transitioned into cancer care and earned my OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) credentials. I went back to school and earned my bachelor’s degree in nursing science in 2011.
As always, the desire to expand my skills, knowledge, and experience led me to other specialties such as Urology and Family Medicine. I was afforded the opportunity to work in Indian medicine and served as their community and clinic health nurse for several of our local tribes. I was then invited to work for a group of long-time friends and colleagues in Internal Medicine, which is where I met Sharon Brown ARNP.
After having a total hip replacement, I decided to step up the physical pace of my career to rebuild my strength. I’m currently working nights in a long-term care facility in Bellingham WA; It’s a nursing home and I work mostly with dementia and Alzheimer’s patients.
Sharon and I were overjoyed to discover our shared dream of a country medicine style clinic, bringing our varied knowledge and clinical skills to assist our local community. I’ve dreampt of a business like this most of my 25 year nursing career, where I’m able to serve my clients in their homes. Offering personalized, convenience of care is something I’m passionate about, and advocating for them is my #1 goal. My husband and I are both euntrepeneurs and both driven to make the world a better place. He’s always known my dream and swore I’d never meet anyone like me… then I met Sharon. She understands the mission, to help relieve the suffering of as many souls as we possible can with love, compassion, and ethical determination.
Don’t ever hesitate to reach out.
How can we help?
On a personal note:
You know when you go into a job interview and they ask you what your hobbies are? I loath to answer that question, because my honest answer is I don’t have any. I live and breath my career. It’s who I am, how I’m made, and what gets me out of bed, and that’s hard sometimes. My reason for being is my best friend of 33 years, my husband Brian. We’re extraordinarily good at being married to each other and our prime directive is making each other’s lives the best they can be. When hard patches are hit, and one of us fails to live up to our own personal standards, it’s breathtakingly painful. We’re good together and love to travel, roadtrip, stargaze, fly airplanes, and have deep conversations about anything and everything. I love history and spend any free time doing deep dives into various topics. I also love movies and once owned Island Video, our independent video store in our hometown of Anacortes, WA. My love of movies is very much a solo pursuit. It’s not Brian’s thing and I prefer to watch them alone. I also enjoy a good woodland saunter. People shouldn’t hike, they should go for woodland saunters.
Love,
Rebecca 🙂
